Site Design

Image
There were quite a few steps this week for setting up the website, and my business. In fact, I haven't gotten fully through the process of setting up the affiliate links for my business. So that's something that I should probably get around too. This week we focused on what type of payment services online to use. Which would have been nice had Weebly not forced me to use Square. So my decision was kinda already made for me. But, we did learn a lot about how these services work. We learned that there needed to be tools to determine our users safety, and that there were services out there that were cheaper. There needed to be compatibility with the service we chose and our website (which in my case wasn't as much of a problem). Overall, there are many steps in the process of creating a web business.

Site Builder & Hosting Reflection

Image
In Summary, not good. Learning about website hosts and doing your best to choose one with an Excel sheet is one thing. Actually using a web host, building the site, and giving away your credit card information (praying I wasn't scammed) is an entirely different matter. For starters, expecting your site to be fully functional and complete when using a website host is an unrealistic expectation. It takes time for your credentials to be confirmed, your money to be transferred, and I guess in some cases your entire bank account to be drained (this is a joke, my stress over this project has taken it's toll). After this whole mess with the website is sorted out, then I'll have to figure out how to even affiliate, because you need another host for that or something?   Update while writing this: I got in contact with support and they were able to help me out with connecting my site to the domain I purchased, so my site is now up and running. That's a huge relief

Reflection on Sourcing the Product

Image
I think this week went fairly well, other than the fact that I haven't even touched the worksheet from last week since last week. I really enjoyed a lot of the talk about the differences between drop shipping and affiliate businesses. Mostly because those two options seem a lot easier to run than starting up an entire business from scratch. Not that that wouldn't be something worth doing down the line, but for right now everything would be easier if I didn't have to source all of the products, materials, and organization of such product all by myself. I didn't particularly enjoy all the reading we had to do to understand the concepts though (I have a lot of reading for my other classes, but I realize that's something I can't really control seeing as this is an online class and that's all we have when it comes to resources). Not looking forward to having to create a business, but after learning about drop shipping and affiliate ways of running a business, I...

Reflection on Choosing a Business

Image
This week was fairly stressful. I'm going to be honest, I have no clue what I'm doing. Business creation is not my strong suit and there were quite a few assignments to work on which piled up along with everything else due for all of my other classes (barely even touched the excel worksheet). What did I learn this week? Well, I'm happy to announce that I did learn just a bit. There are many types of businesses that can be run on the web from doing almost everything yourself, to doing almost nothing. Because of that, we were also able to learn how you can scan Google Search to see how much competition you idea for a business has and how much it costs to run ads on it. And when it came to seeing how many clicks each search item had... well... I actually couldn't find that information. The scariest thing about this class is just the fact that I don't know what kind of business to run, and the fact that an in person environment may be more helpful for me to understand...

My Adventures with Superman Season 2 Poster Reverse Engineered

Image
Original Poster (Source: Warner Brothers Discovery) Introduction For this project, I have chosen the season 2 poster for the show 'My Adventures with Superman'. This post is currently being used in the promotional media advertising this show, and is distributed and created by Warner Brothers Discovery. Because this is a large company behind the show, it's hard to pinpoint an original creator, and is quite possible that this poster was created by a large team of promotional artists. However, we do know that this same poster was first shared to social media (albeit, in a different ratio to fit better on Instagram) by the voice actor Jack Quaid. This is my break down of the design elements in this poster. Analysis There are many ways to apply the principles of design, but for this assignment I will be focusing on the principles of contrast, repetition, alignment, proximity, and color. Contrast A gradient map across the poster, showing how the light blue color (top right) tra...
